Macfab expands multi-axis machining capability
NEWS RELEASE: November 10, 2016: Macfab Manufacturing, a subcontract supplier of precision components and sub-assemblies, has today announced a major new investment in multi-axis machining.
The company has installed a BNE-51SY6 8-axis CNC Super Turning Center, made by Miyano, one of the world’s leading precision machining equipment manufacturers. The new machine, which features two spindles and two turrets with up to 24 revolving tool stations, will increase Macfab’s production efficiency and throughput. In addition to improved repeatability and faster cycle times – as a result of overlapped turning, milling, and drilling operations – the new machine will increase Macfab’s multi-axis mill/turn capability from 20 mm to 51 mm.
“We are very excited about the new capabilities we’ll now be able to offer our customers as a result of this investment,” says Macfab president Chris Macmorine. “With increased productivity comes lower costs, which we can pass on to our customers. Plus, the new technology enables us to produce new components we weren’t able to do previously on a competitive basis. That’s going to appeal to many of our current customers and many new ones as well.”
