Macfab team - 30th anniversary, 20 Sep 2017

Macfab hosted a 30th anniversary luncheon on September 20th, highlighted by the premiere screening of the new video

The video project was originally intended to commemorate Macfab’s 30th anniversary, but it soon turned into a bigger story, one that reflects the industry’s growth as well as Macfab’s. Says Macfab president Chris Macmorine, “We saw that our story reflected developments that have affected many of our customers’ businesses, not just our own. It made sense to us to go into more detail on these key areas, with a short series of videos instead of just one.”

New videos, which will be released over the coming months, will focus on major developments in prototyping, contract manufacturing, quality management, and complementary services such as finishing and cleanroom assembly.

Specialized machining collaborations welcome

Several of Macfab’s customers are attending DSEI 2017. Additionally, says business development director Joe Magyar, many attendees are on the company’s list of prospects: “Among the components we supply to our sensor/detector customers, many are made from two exotic materials – titanium alloys, and Kovar, a nickel-cobalt ferrous alloy often used in glass sealing applications.

“Our message at this trade show is that if you have a requirement defined by these special materials, we can help you with that. We welcome the challenge of working with the tougher materials.”

Ion Emitter

In a classic example of its collaborative R&D with high-tech manufacturers, Macfab worked more than two years with its OEM customer to develop an ion emitter (left) operating at kilovolt levels, used in trace analysis and detection devices.
